The villa area was just too large, and the gardening masters hired by management were driving around with golf carts to prune the trees. Snowy followed Snowball for quite a distance, then turned two corners. Around the second corner, a man and a dog stood at the entrance of the villa. It was Jin Er and Good-For-Nothing.
However, Jin Er was dressed differently than his usual, lazy, middle-aged uncle attire. He wore a spirited leather safari jacket with a pair of camo jeans and a pair of high-cut riding boots. If it wasn’t for Good-For-Nothing, who stood beside him, Snowy really wouldn’t have been able to recognize him.
Good-For-Nothing was also different from its usual self that day. Aside from its fur, which had been groomed, it wore a bow tie, as if it was classy. Snowy wondered if that was taken from Famous at the Berlin Film Festival.
Even so, Good-For-Nothing was still Good-For-Nothing. When it turned around, the look in its eyes gave it away.
When Good-For-Nothing saw Snowy and its sworn enemy, it tried to rush over immediately, only to be kicked by Jin Er. It then let out a soft whimper and remained where it was.
Snowy was really curious. Why was Good-For-Nothing being so obedient? What kind of magic did Uncle Jin possess?
In addition, Uncle Jin was so dressed up... Who was he waiting for?
Snowy bent over and hugged the eager Snowball, temporarily preventing the cat and dog from getting into a full-scale martial arts battle.
“Uncle Jin, good morning!” Snowy greeted him.
Jin Er turned to the side and looked at her, then squinted his eyes and smiled. “Good morning, Snowy. You’re up early today!”
Snowy noticed that he had actually shaved his mustache; he didn’t have his usual unshaven look. He looked much younger. Could he possibly have been waiting for a lady?
“Well, it’s not early anymore. I’m taking Snowball out for a walk and getting some fresh air at the same time. It’s too boring to stay at home!” Snowy rolled her eyes, then she grew curious. She asked, “Uncle Jin, why aren’t you fishing today?”
“Because I’m waiting for an old classmate. As for fishing, I can do that whenever I want,” Jin Er said heartily.
“Old classmate? University classmate?” Snowy asked.
“Yeah.” Jin Er nodded.
Good-For-Nothing noticed that Snowball was in Snowy’s arms, and because Snowball didn’t seem to pose any threat to it, it got closer with a silly look on its face. It stuck out its tongue to deliberately provoke Snowball. It was only until it was kicked by Jin Er again that it behaved itself.
So it was a reunion with his university classmate. No wonder...
Snowy heard that many university students that reunited after many years of separation would show the inconstancy and fickleness of human affection. Those that were doing well in life would become the focus of the party and the envy of everyone, and they would openly show off their branded car, branded watch, and their annual salary of millions of dollars. Those that were just doing average in life would suck up to them, while those that were doing poorly would hide in a corner, quietly drinking by themselves, or they would simply just not participate.
Regardless of the standards, Jin Er was obviously the kind who was doing well in life. Since he was doing well in life, did that also mean that he was unable to escape from the unhealthy cycle? Was he planning to show off his wealth in front of his old classmate?
Taking his usual character into consideration, he didn’t seem like someone that would stoop that low.
Besides, although he was dressed differently, it wasn’t to the extent of showing off.
“Uncle Jin, you’re dressed up nicely today! Are these new clothes?” Snowy was really curious, so she tried to delay the time, hoping to meet Jin Er’s old classmate. After that, she could return home with gossip for her mom and dad.
“Haha! It’s just okay!” Although Jin Er was being modest, it felt good to receive a compliment from a young girl.
“Good-For-Nothing is also looking very spirited today! It’s spirited every day!” Snowy said with a smile.
Jin Er coughed and softly mumbled, “I actually want it to be a little less spirited...”
As they were speaking, a black, off-road Mercedes-Benz G-Class stopped at the entrance of the villa. Jin Er had notified the security guard in advance, so after going through the security check and registering the identity of the owner, the car was let in.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class drove into the villa area, and the owner of the car saw Jin Er waiting by the roadside. He slowly stopped the car.
Through the privacy glass, Snowy wasn’t able to see the owner’s appearance, but by taking a glance at the license plate, she noticed that it was from another province.
Snowy quietly took a few steps back, so as not to hinder Jin Er and his classmate. Who knew if they had something private to talk about... Still, she didn’t intend to leave that easily.
The door opened and a man wearing sunglasses got out of the car.
The man looked to be about the same age as Jin Er. He was tall and thin––the type that was fit and lean, not the sickly thin type. In addition, his complexion was very dark. He wasn’t born dark but was tanned dark, just like the skin color of construction workers that worked at construction sites. Only someone who had worked outdoors for many years would be that dark.
The man was also dressed up in a leather jacket and jeans. He looked very spirited and much younger than he really was. But when he laughed, the crow’s feet in the corners of his eyes revealed his true age.
“Haha! Old Jin! I haven’t seen you for a long time! You seem to have a good state of mind!”
“You too, Blackie! The older you get, the younger you become!” The two laughed as they hugged each other and patted each other’s backs. It seemed that they had a good relationship.
Snowy didn’t know whether Blackie was his real name or just a nickname. It was most probably the latter, but it was really fitting, as he was indeed really dark.
The two exchanged a few words, then Blackie turned to Snowy. He pointed at her and asked, “This is?”
Blackie had seen Snowy when he came in, but he wasn’t sure of her relationship with Jin Er. He knew that Jin Er didn’t have a daughter.
“Oh, she’s a neighbor that lives near my place.” Jin Er briefly introduced them, and then said to Snowy, “This is my classmate. You can just call him Blackie.”
“Hello, Uncle Blackie, my name’s Snowy. Uncle Jin usually takes care of me.” Snowy waved and greeted with a smile. Of course, she couldn’t just address him as Blackie as Jin Er did.
“You can just call me Blackie. Uncle Blackie gives me the goosebumps. It feels like I’m really old.” Blackie waved his hand and joked, “I got the scare of my life earlier. I was wondering when Jin Er had such a beautiful daughter... It almost made me doubt genetics.”
Jin Er laughed and said, “If you see her father, you would be even more suspicious.”
Snowy chuckled. Blackie had a relatively straightforward character, and even if he was not as rich as Jin Er, he probably had no financial issues. It seemed like Jin Er was just trying to look younger with his attire.
Since there was nothing to gossip about, Snowy was ready to go back home. Her mother would nag at her for returning home late again if she stayed.
“Uncle Jin, I won’t impose on your reunion. I’ll be heading home!” Snowy said as she bid her farewell.
Jin Er suddenly said, “Wait a minute, Snowy. My old friend may need your help.”
