Chapter 148 148. Ominous Potion.
Chapter 148 148. Ominous Potion.
Before going to sleep, none of the girls wanted to disturb Kevin, so they decided not to go to his room to sleep with him.
Instead, Victoria and Dahlia shared Dahlia\'s bedroom while Sasha and Amy shared the bed in the guest room.
As soon as their heads hit the pillow, everyone fell asleep within seconds because they felt exhausted from the hard work they put into preparing the dinner they made for Kevin.
One hour after Victoria and everyone else fell asleep, Kevin woke up with a headache. He groaned while rubbing his forehead, and the parasite\'s voice emerged in his mind.
[Would you like to take some drugs?] The parasite asked, her voice laced with concern.
\'Maybe later, I haven\'t eaten yet you know?\'
[That\'s true, then how about getting something to eat, the girls made you something to eat before they went to bed.] It advised.
\'Oh, really?\' Kevin chuckled before giving a smile, wondering how Amy had felt while cooking with the other ladies.
[Yes.]
\'I guess, I could grab a few bites before taking some drugs.\'
Kevin made his decision and rose from the bed before heading downstairs.
As he approached the dining room, he noticed the silence that filled the house, which meant that the girls were really asleep and none of them were currently awake.
He walked straight to the kitchen to see if he could find something to eat from their leftover food.
Right after he was done, Kevin took a drug for his headache before heading back upstairs.
[It\'s a shame the girls couldn\'t witness you eating their food, they would have been really happy.]
Kevin chuckled at the parasite\'s words and replied. \'True and it was really good as well.\'
Kevin opened his room door and entered before asking the parasite aloud.
"To spin the Immortal Roulette, all I need is a million evil points right?"
[Indeed.]
[Would you like to summon the Immortal Roulette?] The parasite asked.
"Yes." He replied.
Right after Kevin gave the command, a roulette hovered in front of him.
[A million evil points have been used to summon the roulette, and you have four million evil points remaining.] The system informed him.
The roulette contained the names of several weapons, potions, skills and some other things; they were all divided into several sections like a pie chart.
[Would you like to spin the roulette?]
\'Yes.\'
[If you want it to spin, you only need to say the command out loud.]
With the aid of the parasite\'s advice, Kevin uttered. "Spin."
And the roulette began to spin while it hovered in front of him.
At a corner of the roulette was a pointer which would help to determine what he got after the roulette stopped spinning.
It continued to spin for a few more seconds until it finally stopped.
And right after it did, a black ominous substance, inside an apothecary jar materialized on his palm.
Then Kevin lifted his gaze back to the section the pointer had stopped before reading the words written there.
"Immortal Cleansing Potion?"
"What\'s that?"
[It is a potion which cleanses away every last thing that makes you a mortal, leaving you with a body that\'s capable of living for thousands of years. In short, this potion turns you into an immortal.] The parasite explained.
[If you drink it now, it will take approximately one hour to transform you into an Immortal.]
"One hour, huh," Kevin thought about what the parasite just told him.
But since it would only take him an hour to completely evolve into an immortal, Kevin saw this as the perfect time to drink the potion.
[Will you be drinking it now?] The parasite asked.
"Yes." Kevin simply replied.
[Then I suggest you lay in a tub right after you drink it.]
"And why\'s that?" Kevin asked as he walked towards the bathroom.
[This is because the potion will destroy every organ and bone in your body before replacing it with better and stronger ones.]
"That sounds like it will hurt."
[It will, a lot.] The parasite confirmed.
[Do you still want to drink it?]
"Of course, I won\'t let a little pain stop me from becoming stronger," Kevin replied with confidence as he approached the bathtub.
[I see.]
[But, you should know that once you do this, there\'s no turning back and you\'ll never become a mortal again.] The parasite cautioned.
[Drinking this might also expose you to more enemies who might stand in the way of your goal to find your mother.]
[Even while knowing all these, do you still feel like drinking it?]
"Yes," Kevin replied, earnestly.
The parasite knew that drinking the potion would definitely lead to an increase in the number of his enemies and Kevin needed to be both physically and mentally prepared for the repercussions of the choice he was about to make.
But the parasite also knew that if Kevin drank the potion, he would have more chances of seeing his mother again, and she didn\'t want to stand in Kevin\'s way of achieving his goal, so she didn\'t say anything else.
Kevin noticed the parasite\'s silence, which meant that she wasn\'t trying to stop him anymore, so he stepped into the empty tub and took a seat.
Kevin opened the lid of the jar and drank the black ominous-looking liquid in five gulps.
Right after he drank it, his body became numb and the empty jar fell straight to the ground while Kevin\'s eyes turned bleach white and every single blood flowing in his veins turned black.
Kevin\'s body began to squirm and convulse as his eyes, heart, lungs, kidneys and even the bones in his body began to melt.
Black viscous liquid then began to ooze out of his pores until he was completely submerged in the black liquid that came out of him.
The black liquid rose to the brim of the tub and for the first five minutes after the liquid seeped from his body, nothing happened.
About half an hour later, the liquid began to boil as though the tub had been lit.
Soon, the room became filled with black smoke which smelled both irritating and nauseating.
For the remaining half hour, the black liquid continued to boil until every single drop evaporated from the tub and filled the air. Then it gently dispersed into nothingness.
